Yes, that is in fact a chain maille cloak. 16g 1/2" brite aluminum. It didn't turn out quite as well as we had hoped, and has long since been butchered for other projects (such as the dancing girl skirt).

We may remake it at some point. We haven't decided yet.

While one can imagine a full ring cloak, its quite something to actually see one. Not an easy project I can imagine, even if done in a light metal. Only Titanium would be suitable for any real protection versus weight don't you think? And that would be hideously expensive..

Its great to see such work though and frankly from some of the modeling images I saw on the photographers site, you did, and still do make an excellent model for the work.

spirits bless,
Marion

Oh, titanium would possibly work, but were going purely for looks and costume, not any sort of functionality. :)

We could redo it in a heavier aluminum and it would hold without issue at 1/2", or we could do it in 16g 5/16" or 1/4", but I don't have the free time to spend on large projects that aren't being commissioned and paid for, at the moment. :lmao: Glad you like it.

this is very nice! :)
why didn't you upload these pictures earlier?

I keep a few in reserve so I can put them up when I'm really slow. Like now. :p

I am awed, envious, and very much wanting. Awesome stuff.

Thank you very much. :) If we ever figure out the best way to make a chainmaille cloak that will still weigh under 40 pounds, we'll be sure to post it up here!

That's very good looking. Sorry it didn't turn out as you hoped. If you redo it, how would you close it in front? Or would it just be draped?
